Milton Theatre reopens

Quayside Stage return sells out
June 12, 2020

In a return to something resembling normal, Milton Theatre opened its Quayside stage June 4 for a two-hour performance by local musical fixture Al Frantic.

Things of course were not quite normal; those in attendance wore masks and were seated 6 feet apart. Theater spokesman J.P. Lacap said the event was sold out, as were three of the six shows the theater held over the week of June 4, including four showings of “Raiders of the Lost Ark” and “The Wizard of Oz,” plus a drag show and a stand-up comedy show.

For the Quayside Stage performance, Lacap said those who were not able to get inside hung out in the Mulberry Street parking lot to hear Frantic play, with some donating what was supposed to be their admission fee.

“This week was a test if people are ready to see live shows again and based on the turnout, we will continue with another revised event calendar next week.

“We're currently booking on a weekly basis as it also has been a challenge to book artists,” Lacap said.

The theater hosted psychic medium Deanna Fitzpatrick June 10, will present a stand-up comedy show June 12 and a Broadway cabaret show June 13. On June 11, the Quayside stage held a second concert, this time with singer Keri Anthony.
