Two Cape Region restaurateurs, Steve Montgomery and Scott Kammerer, will hold two of three executive committee posts on the board of Delaware Restaurant Association in 2016.
During the 14th annual Cornerstone Awards in Wilmington Nov. 9, the association announced Montgomery will serve as president and Kammerer will serve as treasurer. Jeff Cook, a New Castle County restaurateur, rounds out the committee as vice chairman.
Montgomery, Starboard owner, has served as a board member of the association since 2010. He and his business partners also own Bethany Blues, in Lewes and Bethany Beach, and The Bottom Line in Washington, D.C.
Most recently, he and his partners opened 99 Sea Level, an upscale seafood restaurant and raw bar on the ground floor of the Ocean Suites by Marriott in Bethany Beach.
A well-known philanthropist, he is involved in many community fundraisers, including The Starboard’s Dewey Goes Pink which benefits breast cancer research, and his famous Running of the Bulls, benefiting local fire and police departments.
Kammerer is president of SoDel Concepts, which consists of eight restaurants, a catering company and a food truck in Southern Delaware. He began serving on the restaurant association board in 2015.
Kammerer is an original board member and co-founder of The Global Delaware Fund which has partnered with the Boys and Girls Club of Rehoboth, Rehoboth Elementary School, the Cape Henlopen Education Foundation and the Rehoboth Beach Senior Center. Kammerer has since started SoDel Cares, a nonprofit that focuses its support and fundraising locally.
Cook has served as an association board member since 2007. He is co-owner of 2 Fat Guys American Grille & Catering in Hockessin and Greenville and the recently opened 2 Fat Guys To-Go in north Wilmington.
Started in 1965, the association is celebrating its 50th anniversary, noting Delaware’s 2,000 restaurants employ more than 45,000 people and have an economic impact of more than $1.7 billion in annual sales.
