Morris Thomas Brinkley, owned trucking company
Morris Thomas Brinkley, 83, of Selbyville passed away Saturday, Sept. 10, 2016, while in the care of Atlantic Shores Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Millsboro. He was surrounded by his loving family at the end.
He was born July 12, 1933, in Trehanville, Va., to the late John and Lillian Morris Brinkley. He was married to his loving wife, who survives him, Hilda Mae Belote Brinkley. Together they raised three children. Morris was owner and operator of a trucking company that served numerous companies, including Townsends, Chesapeake and others. He loved being on the road with his trucks. He also loved to shoot pool, especially with his grandchildren. He like card games with his grandkids, and was especially devoted to them. He was active in Zoar United Methodist Church and Antioch AME Church.
In addition to his wife, Hilda, whom he was devoted to, he is survived by two children: Anthony Orlander Brinkley of Laurel and Alton Matthew Morris Brinkley of Georgetown. His daughter Amy Sabrina preceded him. He is also survived by a sister: Delores Duppin of New Jersey; and was preceded by two siblings: Earline and James. He has seven grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. He also leaves behind his devoted friend Scott.
A funeral service will be held Wednesday, Sept. 14, at 1 p.m., at Zoar United Methodist Church in Selbyville, where friends may call one our prior from noon till 1 p.m for viewing and visitation. Pastor Timothy Duffield will officiate, with interment following in Zoar Golden Acres Cemetery in Bishopville, Md. Floral offerings are welcomed.
