October 14, 2019

Representatives from the Knights of Columbus Ocean City Council #9053 held their Annual Soccer Challenge Sept. 27 at Most Blessed Sacrament Catholic School in Berlin, Md.

For this event, students first- through eighth-grade demonstrate shooting accuracy on the penalty kick. According to Tom Pergola, council program director, this is the most important skill in soccer.

The challenge offers students the opportunity to compete to reach the international level of competition.

Under its community outreach program, the Knights of Columbus members annually sponsor this event to help encourage the values of good sportsmanship and healthy competition.

The Knights of Columbus is an international Catholic fraternal service organization with 1.8 million members in over 15,000 local councils who donate volunteer hours and funds to charitable causes.
