A motorcyclist was killed Sept. 13 following a crash in Millsboro.
The crash happened about 7 p.m. when a Pennsylvania man, 52, was riding a Honda motorcycle northbound on Route 113 at a high-rate of speed in the right lane, approaching the intersection at Centerview Drive, police said, and failed to stop for the red light at the intersection.
At the same time, police said, a Chevrolet Malibu driven by a Millsboro man, 21, was moving through the green light in the right westbound lane of Centerview Drive when the front of the motorcycle struck the left front side of the Malibu, causing the rider to be ejected.
The motorcyclist was wearing a DOT-certified helmet, police said, but he was pronounced dead at the scene. His identity is being withheld until his family is notified.
The driver of the Malibu was transported to an area hospital where he was treated and released for nonlife-threatening injuries.
The roadway was closed for about three and a half hours while members of the Delaware State Police Troop 7 Collision Reconstruction Unit investigated and cleared the roadway.
The investigation remains ongoing and anyone who witnessed the crash or has relevant information is asked to contact Sgt. A. Mitchell at (302) 703-3269.
