Mount Zion AME Church to present Vector Scholar program April 18
Mount Zion AME Church will sponsor a black history luncheon from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., Saturday, April 18, in Ellendale. The guest speaker is Will Gorham, founder of the Vector Scholar Program in Virginia.
The Vector Scholar Program works with high school students interested in learning how to write codes using the technology of the personal computer and tablet. This skill helps increase employable skills for youth following high school. The program is historically run in collaboration with public schools and libraries.
Mt. Zion AME Pastor A. Iona Smith Nze said, "There are not enough options for high school graduates who may choose not to go on to college. The Vector Scholar Program and others like it may represent the next frontier for exploration in the field of education."
The cost of the luncheon is $10. Tickets may be purchased at the door. The church is at 18211 Beach Highway, Ellendale. For more information, contact Smith Nze at 302-422-5808.
