March 31, 2023

Mountaire Farms is partnering with hundreds of churches and nonprofits in four states to provide complete meals for families in need at Easter.

Each Mountaire Cares box can feed a family of four. Boxes are stuffed with a plump Mountaire roaster chicken, canned corn, peas and carrots, macaroni and cheese, apple sauce, mashed potatoes and gravy, and brownies for dessert. They will be distributed to groups from Delaware, Maryland, Virginia, and North Carolina.

On Delmarva, Mountaire’s annual Easter for Thousands event is set for 8 a.m., Wednesday, April 5, when more than 150 volunteers will help pack 5,000 meal boxes with enough food to feed 20,000 people. There will be no walk-up distributions for this event, as all boxes are already reserved for families, churches and nonprofits.

Mountaire also holds Easter for Thousands events in Siler City, N.C., and Lumber Bridge, N.C.

“Easter is a season of hope and we’re so proud to be able to provide that to families in need this holiday once again,” said J.R. LaPearl, director of Mountaire Cares, the company’s charitable giving program.  “Our employees really enjoy being a part of this effort to give back to the community.”

The Easter event is part of the company’s signature Meals for Thousands program which also feeds people at Thanksgiving and Christmas.
