Music scholarship awarded to Indian River graduating senior
Nicole Carter, a senior at Indian River High School, had been awarded a $1,200 scholarship by the St. Cecilia Music Guild, an outreach ministry at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church in Lewes.
“When I heard that I won the St. Cecilia Music Guild Scholarship, I couldn’t have been more excited. Musicians don’t always receive the credit they most definitely deserve, so getting this scholarship really made me feel seen and appreciated for what I do,” Nicole said. She will attend West Chester University where she plans to major in music education.
In school, Nicole is active across all aspects of music, including being the drum major in the marching band, and a member of the jazz band, a cappella choir and drama club. As a music education major in college, Nicole plans to have a voice focus. She also plays the euphonium.
Nicole said, “I plan to remain a well-rounded musician by performing in both the choral and instrumental ensembles. Music has deeply enriched my life, and I can't wait to spread its incredible power with the world.”
The St. Cecilia Music Guild is best known for presenting classical, vocal, jazz, organ and choral concerts for public enjoyment, free of charge.
