Nage to sponsor, cater Children’s Beach House Barbecue Aug. 23
Nage Bistro and Wine Bar will bring a bit of New Orleans to Lewes Beach Saturday, Aug. 23, as it sponsors and caters the Children's Beach House Barbecue.
Josh Grapski, owner, and Mark Harrison, general manager of Nage, have worked closely with Barbecue Event Committee chairs Debbie Kileen and Dr. Robert Wiltshire.
Wiltshire, a trustee on the board of Children’s Beach House says, “This is an easy event to chair because this year it’s about so many things I love - The Children’s Beach House, my very dear friend and co-chair Debbie Killeen, the food of Nage, and the theme: The Big Easy on the Beach (A Mardi Gras Party). We have worked very hard to make this event stand out among the many other very successful beach barbecues!”
Killeen says, “The food Nage is preparing is a magnificent tribute to New Orleans: barbecue shrimp, Cajun beef satay, New Orleans gumbo shooters, braised pork, blackened redfish, and chicken jambalaya, to name a few. Our friend and sponsor, Josh Grapski, learned the restaurant business making food like this, and we are thrilled to be partnering with him on such a perfect project!”
Wiltshire adds, “The story of the Children’s Beach House remains a secret. Everyone knows we have a great building on the beach and we do great things with children, but that’s about as far as most people know. I became involved about eight years ago through a friendship with Executive Director Rich Garrett. As I began to understand exactly what CBH does, I got progressively more involved because I could clearly see the huge difference they are making in the lives of some very special children. I am proud to be part of this organization and to serve on the board of trustees.”
Children’s Beach House provides case management and residential camping programs (weekends and summer) to children with communicative disabilities including speech, language and hearing challenges. The approach at CBH is to focus on the strengths or assets of a child. It stands in sharp contrast to the more common deficit approach as it naturally identifies pathways and opportunities; not simply treatments.
The Beach Barbecue will be from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 23, at Children’s Beach House, 1800 Bay Ave. (entrance on Cedar Avenue), Lewes. Tickets are $100.
