Neil R. McCauley, retired painter

 Neil R. McCauley, 81, of Millsboro, born Aug. 10, 1940, in Baltimore, Md., passed away suddenly Wednesday, Nov. 10, 2021. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, Gladys and George McCauley; his wife of 52 years, Carole; his sister Beverly, and his brother-in-law Steve.  He is survived by his three daughters, Denine Taraskus (Dan Lawler), Kelly Calloway (David), and Heather McCauley; his two sisters, Linda Firkins (Gary) and Sharon Barger; his grandchildren, Paul, Cory, Colin, Emily and Josie; many nieces and nephews; and his loving partner, Gayla Troup.

Neil served in the Navy from 1956-60.  He married his wife, Carole, in 1961 and was employed by Western Electric in Tonawanda, N.Y.  His many hobbies included playing basketball, drag racing, bowling, fishing and golfing.  He moved his family to Delaware in 1974.  By profession, he was a painter, but his passion was fishing.  He bowled on the leagues in Rehoboth Beach for many years and also belonged to the Sussex Pines Country Club. 

He will be greatly missed by his friends, family and all who knew him.  A luncheon will be held Friday, Nov. 19,  from 1 to 4 p.m., at Mulligan’s Pointe, formerly known as Sussex Pines Country Club, at 22426 Sussex Pines Road, Georgetown.
