New business looks to solve the mosquito problem
Christina and Mark Wallisch moved to the Cape Region last summer with hopes to start a new business that people would appreciate. Originally from Baltimore, Md., and Woodbridge, Va., respectively, Christina and Mark moved here in August after falling in love with the area. Getting ready to have their first child, Blake, the couple decided that it was the right time.
“We loved the area and wanted to find something to do here,” Mark said. “We wanted to have a business of our own. I got in contact with the corporate team of Mosquito Joe and the rest is history.”
A man who knows how to run a business, Mark spent 25 years working for and running a Molly Maid franchise, a business his father owned.
Dedicated to eliminating mosquitos, ticks and fleas from their clients' yards, Mosquito Joe is a leader in the outdoor pest control industry. “We are committed to making our customers happy,” Mark said.
A family-run business with over 40 clients, Mosquito Joe in Sussex County currently has three employees - Christina, Mark and a technician. “I love the outdoors,” Christina said. “But mosquitos were always something that kept me inside. It’s fitting that this is the business we started.”
The products used to terminate the mosquitos, fleas and ticks are pet- and child-friendly, and last up to three weeks at a time. “What helps to make our product so effective is that mosquitos aren’t strong flyers,” Mark said. “So that means they land often, causing them to come more in contact with our product.”
“There are different types of pyrethroids on the market,” Mark said. “But we are sure to use the top-quality products.
Originating in Virginia Beach in 2010, the Mosquito Joe franchise currently has 285 locations throughout the United States, and is ranked No. 1 in its category. It is currently on pace to be ranked No. 1 in the nation for services dealing predominantly with mosquitos.
