A preliminary site plan for a new hotel and restaurant off Route 24 near Rehoboth Beach was approved by Sussex County Planning and Zoning Commission at its Oct. 13 meeting. The four-story, 32,080-square-foot Cambria Hotel will have 114 rooms with a 2,350-square-foot restaurant on the same parcel along Lexus Way and Hood Road adjacent to Seaglass Apartments, which are under construction, and across from Beebe Healthcare's Route 24 complex. The parcel is zoned CR-1, commercial-residential. The site will have 225 parking spaces.

The project will join a development trend in the area with three other projects under construction. A new 3,478-square-foot Artisans’ Bank branch is scheduled to open in spring 2022 at the intersection of Route 24 and Hood Road. The 224-unit Seaglass Apartments are under construction along Lexus Way, and Beebe Healthcare is scheduled to open its 4-story, 135,00-square-foot Specialty Surgical Hospital at Healthy Road and Warrington Road in summer 2022.

The Delaware Department of Transportation has plans to improve Hood Road to construct a connector between Route 24 and Old Landing Road. Another new road, Healthy Road, will open when the hospital is completed.
