The venerable market at the corner of First Street and Baltimore Avenue in Rehoboth Beach is getting a new name: Dinah Lingo’s Grocery, reflecting the name of the property’s owner.
The Lingo family has run the market at 30 Baltimore Ave. for more than 100 years. Dinah Lingo’s Grocery will be open by Memorial Day according to a sign on the door. Until last year, the market was always known as Lingo’s Market, but as a result of a protracted legal battle between siblings Dinah and Archie Lingo, Dinah purchased the property at auction, but the name Lingo’s Market was awarded to Archie by a U.S. District Court judge.
Dinah Lingo could not be reached for comment.
