Lewes board sets election for July 18
The Lewes Board of Election has approved holding this year’s city council election on Saturday, July 18. On May 19, the board also approved mailing absentee ballot applications to all registered voters in Lewes. The mailings should be sent in June, officials said. Lewes City Manager Ann Marie Townshend said she expects council to ratify the election date during a special meeting Tuesday, May 26.

Rehoboth City Hall closed Memorial Day
In observance of Memorial Day, Rehoboth Beach City Hall offices will be closed Monday, May 25. Residential trash pickup will not be affected. Go to www.cityofrehoboth.com/residents/trash-recycling for a trash collection schedule for the remainder of the year.

Rehoboth commissioner meeting May 26
Rehoboth Beach has scheduled a special commissioner meeting for 3 p.m., Tuesday, May 26. The meeting will take place virtually. The agenda calls for further discussion on a comprehensive action plan for reopening the city from restrictions related to the COVID-19 pandemic. Members of the public will be allowed to participate in the special meeting, but with limited access. Members of the public who wish to speak will be required to preregister with Ann Womack, city secretary, at awomack@cityofrehoboth.com at least two full business days prior to the meeting.

Citizen comment will be administered by a moderator. Speaking is not allowed until called upon. Members of the public can also submit comments electronically to Womack. All comments shall be submitted at least two full business days prior to the meeting date. Meeting materials are accessible on the city’s portal at www.cityofrehoboth.civicweb.net. Sussex offices closed; council not meeting
Sussex County government offices will be closed Monday, May 25, for the Memorial Day holiday. Sussex County Council will not meet Tuesday, May 26, with the next regularly scheduled teleconference meeting at 10 a.m., Tuesday, June 2.

Lewes Mayor and City Council will meet virtually at 1 p.m., Tuesday, May 26. The group will discuss the potential date of July 18 for the city’s election. They will also discuss reopening and restarting the economy. A link to the meeting can be found at www.lewes.civicweb.net

Lewes bike and ped meets May 26
Lewes Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Committee will meet virtually at 6 p.m., Tuesday, May 26. The group will discuss the Historic Lewes Farmers Market, Lewes’ National Night Out event and a bike bell pop-up event. Lewes Public Art Committee to meet May 27
The Lewes Public Art Committee will meet virtually at 6 p.m., Wednesday, May 27. The group will discuss the status of the water tower public art project slated for Canalfront Park this summer. Parking permits at Dewey Town Hall
An outdoor service window has been installed at Town Hall in Dewey Beach to provide a safe and efficient way to handle visitor needs. The service window is staffed 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday - Friday. Seasonal parking permits are now available for purchase.
