Lewes council public hearing set July 7

Lewes police committee to meet July 9

The Lewes Police Review Ad Hoc Committee will meet virtually at 10 a.m., Thursday, July 9. The group will discuss the police department’s use-of-force policy and the internal review process for officers. A link to the meeting can be found at lewes.civicweb.net

Dewey commissioners meet July 10

Dewey Beach commissioners will hold a virtual monthly meeting at 4 p.m., Friday, July 10. A link to the meeting is available at townofdeweybeach.com. Commissioners may possibly vote an an ordinance requiring face coverings during public health emergencies, to sell dog licenses online, to authorize an early payoff of the Bayard Avenue loan, and to approve an ordinance to amend the fee for conditional-use applications submitted by in-town businesses.

Special Rehoboth meeting set July 7

Rehoboth Beach has scheduled a special commissioners’ virtual meeting for 3 p.m., Tuesday, July 7. The agenda calls for further discussion on a comprehensive action plan for reopening the city from restrictions related to the COVID-19 pandemic. Members of the public will be allowed to participate, but with limited access. Those who wish to speak must preregister with Ann Womack, city secretary, at awomack@cityofrehoboth.com at least two full business days prior to the meeting. Citizen comment will be administered by a moderator. Speaking is not allowed until called upon. Comments can also be emailed to Womack at least two full business days before the meeting. Henlopen Acres meeting set July 10

Henlopen Acres commissioners have scheduled an online meeting for 10 a.m., Friday, July 10. The agenda calls for a possible vote to ratify budget amendments and possible action on the town seal, as well as discussion on solar panels and appointments to a number of the town’s committee and boards. Rehoboth planners meeting July 10

The Rehoboth Beach Planning Commission has scheduled an online meeting for noon, Friday, July 10. The agenda calls for an update on the 2020 Comprehensive Development Plan, under old business. Under new business, the agenda calls for a site-plan review of Clear Space Theatre Company’s proposed theater on Rehoboth Avenue.

Members of the public will be allowed to participate, but with limited access. Rehoboth 2020 candidate forum July 8

The Rehoboth Beach-Dewey Beach Chamber of Commerce will host a virtual Candidate Forum at 11 a.m., Wednesday, July 8, for the Rehoboth Beach 2020 Municipal Election. Forum attendees will include mayoral candidates Paul Kuhns and Stan Mills, and commissioner candidates Patrick Gossett, Jay Lagree, Hugh Fuller and Rachel Macha.

A moderator will be provided by the chamber. The public will have access to the virtual forum. Additional details will be advertised.

Sussex P&Z back in public session July 9

Sussex County Planning and Zoning Commission will meet in public starting at 5:30 p.m., Thursday, July 9, for the first time since the COVID-19 state of emergency was declared in mid-March. Meetings take place in the administration building, 2 The Circle, Georgetown. Included on the agenda is a public hearing on a conditional-use application filed by Dewey Beer Company LLC for a microbrewery on a 5-acre, C-1 commercial-zoned parcel at 18499 Harbeson Road, north of the Route 9 intersection. See a complete agenda and meeting materials at sussexcountyde.gov. The meeting is open to the public with restrictions in place, including the number of people who can sit in the room. Attendees will go through a wellness and security screening, including a no-touch temperature check. Attendees are required to wear a face covering. The meeting will also be streamed live at sussexcountyde.gov/council-chamber-broadcast with a 30-second delay and available by teleconference at 800-988-0494 with passcode 1695792.
