Dewey planning and zoning sets hearing
Dewey Beach planning and zoning commissioners will meet at 6 p.m., Thursday, Aug. 8 at the Lifesaving Station, 1 Dagsworthy Ave. A public hearing will take place on a draft ordinance to approve an amendment of an existing conditional-use permit held by Regan Derrickson of Nalu and Ponos to demolish the existing Ponos building and replace it with an outside patio connected to the Nalu building.
Cape school board meets Aug. 8
The Cape Henlopen school board will hold a retreat Thursday, Aug. 8, at Cape High. The retreat will begin with executive session, which is closed to the public, at 5 p.m. Open session will follow and will include discussion on student codes of conduct and members’ visits to schools on the first day of school.
Lewes Night Out set
Lewes will celebrate National Night Out from 5 to 7 p.m., Tuesday, Aug. 6, at George H.P. Smith Park. The community is invited to mingle with police and other emergency personnel. There will be free food, entertainment and activities such as a K9 demonstration, bike rodeo, a bike raffle and music from Hope for Success. For more information, call 302-645-6264.
Lewes historic preservation to meet
The Lewes Historic Preservation Architectural Review Commission will meet at 7 p.m., Tuesday, Aug. 6, at city hall. The group will consider an application from Three Gulls LLC for the demolition of the rear portion of the dwelling at 203 E. Market St. They will also consider an application from Coastal Cottage Renovations for the demolition of a shed attached to the rear of the structure and exterior renovations to the home at 236 Second St. They will consider an application from Meghan Lee and Jerry Meiklejohn for the demolition of an accessory structure and a one-story addition to the right side of 416 Kings Highway. They also plan to restore the original dwelling and front porch and construct a new addition to the right side of the dwelling. For details, call 302-645-7777.
Rehoboth law oversight committee to meet
The Rehoboth Beach Law Oversight Committee has scheduled a meeting for 9 a.m., Wednesday, Aug. 7, in the commissioners room of city hall, 229 Rehoboth Ave. The agenda calls for a continued discussion of the city’s tree ordinance. For more information, call 302-227-6181.
Rehoboth planners to meet Aug. 9
The Rehoboth Beach Planning Commission has scheduled a meeting for 3 p.m., Friday, Aug. 9, in the commissioners room of city hall, 229 Rehoboth Ave. The agenda calls for a discussion on the rezoning of the residential portion of 330 Rehoboth Ave., a discussion on how new rules for the Sussex County Conservation District may affect the city, and an update on the comprehensive development plan.
