Milton planners meet Oct. 1
Milton Planning and Zoning Commission will meet at 6:30 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 1, at Milton library for a workshop meeting to continue discussion of a new mixed-use zone in the town zoning code.
Rehoboth Boardwalk committee to meet Sept. 30
The Rehoboth Beach Boardwalk and Beach Committee is scheduled to meet at 9 a.m., Monday, Sept. 30, in the commissioners room of city hall, 229 Rehoboth Ave. The agenda calls for end-of-summer observations on the Boardwalk and beach, developing logistics for a trial recycling program, and an update on city projects related to the Boardwalk and beach.

Lewes Traffic Safety Committee meets Oct. 1
The Lewes Traffic Safety Committee will meet at 9:30 a.m., Tuesday, Oct. 1, at city hall. The group will discuss lighting at crosswalks along Cape Henlopen Drive, making Massachusetts Avenue and East Market Street emergency access streets, addressing lighting issues at Second Street and Savannah Road, and adding a yield sign at Rodaline Avenue and East Third Street. Lewes historic preservation to meet Oct. 1
The Lewes Historic Preservation Architectural Review Commission will meet at 7 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 1, at city hall.
The group will consider a request for renovations to the home at 114 East Fourth St., including a rear addition, deck and pergola. Commissioners will also consider a request to build a screened porch off the back of a home and installation of a fence at 28 Shipcarpenter Square.
Beebe Healthcare will also go before the panel seeking permission to add signage to 424 Savannah Road. For more information, call city hall at 302-645-7777.
Sussex planners meet Oct. 1
Sussex County Planning and Zoning Commission will meet at 6 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 1, at 2 The Circle in Georgetown to hold five public hearings. Among the hearings is consideration of an ordinance to rezone a 37-acre parcel owned by W and B Hudson Family Ltd. from an AR-1, agricultural residential and MR, medium density residential, to a C-3, heavy commercial. The property is located on Route 9, east of Harbeson Road.
A second zoning change is for a less-than-one-acre parcel on Harbeson Road, south of Route 9. Property owner Harbeson Farm Revex LLC wants to convert the property from MR, medium density residential and AR-1, agricultural residential to B-2, business community. The commission will discuss an ordinance regarding manufactured housing, and discuss a site-plan update for The Vineyards at Nassau Valley.

Sussex County Council to meet Oct. 1
Sussex County Council will meet at 10 a.m., Tuesday, Oct. 1, at 2 The Circle in Georgetown to discuss an update to the county’s memorandum of understanding with Delaware Department of Transportation. Council will discuss airport leases with Cay Properties and Schell Aviation, as well as a lease amendment with Georgetown Air Services.
County Engineer Hans Medlarz will discuss a change order to the regional biosolids and septage facilities at Inland Bays Regional Wastewater Facility.
Finally, council will discuss a proposed zoning change by Captain’s Way Development LLC, which is seeking the change to allow for garage studio apartments on land on Route 16 in Milton.
Dewey organizational meeting postponed
The Dewey Beach Town Council organizational meeting originally scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 28, has been postponed to 5:30 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 2, at the Lifesaving Station, 1 Dagsworthy Ave. Three newly elected commissioners will be sworn in for two-year terms, and commissioners will vote to appoint a town mayor for a one-year term. Commissioners will also vote to appoint a town council secretary for a one-year term.
Fair housing topic Sept. 30
Attorney Diane Glauber with the Lawyers Committee on Civil Rights will be conducting a review of Sussex County’s Assessment of Impediments focusing on fair housing Monday, Sept. 30.
Sussex County community residents and housing organizations are encouraged to attend and participate in the discussion. Residents will also be given contact information to submit their comments and questions after the review. The meeting will be held at 21133 Sterling Ave., Suite 12, Georgetown at 10 a.m. For more information contact Fay Blake at 302-858-4861.
County approves Nassau withdrawal
Sussex County Council unanimously approved a request by developer Nassau DE Acquisition Co. LLC to withdraw an application to rezone 15 acres of land at Route 1 and Old Mill Road in Lewes for a proposed apartment and office complex.
Nassau sought to rezone the parcel from AR-1, agricultural-residential, and C-2, medium commercial, to HR-1, high-density residential district-residential planned community. The proposed project called for 168 apartments, including 21 units of affordable housing, and a small office building.
In July, the rezoning had been recommended for approval by Sussex County Planning and Zoning Commission.
Dewey Beach marketing committee meets Oct. 4
The Dewey Beach Marketing Committee will meet at 4 p.m., Friday, Oct. 4, at the Lifesaving Station, 1 Dagsworthy Ave. An update on the Facebook page will be provided and discussion of the Lifesaving Station stamp will be held. Members will review and possibly change a letter composed for Harry Wilson requesting the use of his trademarked tagline “Way of Life,” and will decide which product to create as a possible revenue source for the town.
Rehoboth looking for committee volunteers
Rehoboth Beach announced Sept. 24 it is seeking applicants to volunteer for the new environment committee.
The committee was created to work to energize, inspire and lead the city to become an eco-friendly, conservation-focused destination.
The committee will focus on accomplishing its mission through public awareness, education, incentives, recommending public policy and taking effective steps that will make Rehoboth Beach an environmentally friendly model for other coastal communities.
Eligible members include property and business owners, residents and community stakeholders. The committee will meet on an as-needed basis at city hall and all meetings are open to the public. Interested individuals should apply to the city secretary. Applications are available at www.cityofrehoboth.civicweb.net/portal and at city hall, 229 Rehoboth Ave.
