Dewey Beach to host blood drive Dec. 26
The Town of Dewey Beach will partner with American Red Cross to host a blood drive from 1 to 6 p.m., Wednesday, Dec. 26. Town Clerk Ashleigh Hudson said the Red Cross requires at least 40 people to sign up for the drive before it can be scheduled. Hudson said donors can commit to donate by emailing her at ashleigh@townofdeweybeach.com and provide name, email and phone number.

Discussion on Lewes fire siren use set Oct. 23
The Lewes Fire Department will host a meeting from 6 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 23, to address recent concerns about the fire siren. There will be a brief overview of the fire department’s founding, history and current operations. The meeting will take place in the community room of the Margaret H. Rollins Community Center, 101 Adams Ave., Lewes.

Cape Henlopen school board meets Oct. 25
The Cape Henlopen school board will hold its regular monthly meeting at 6 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 25, at H.O. Brittingham Elementary School in Milton. The board will present elementary school enrollment areas for the 2019-20 school year. The board will discuss and take possible action on an exception to bus stop regulation–request for relief appeal and on the strategic plan, and will discuss the naming of the Sussex Consortium building. The district unit count will be discussed, and a discussion and possible action will take place on class size waiver. 

Nassau project on Sussex P&Z agenda Oct. 25
Sussex County Planning and Zoning Commission will meet at 6 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 25, in the county administration building, 2 The Circle, Georgetown. Included on the agenda are three applications filed by Nassau DE Acquisition Co. LLC for a mixed residential-commercial project at the intersection of Route 1 and Old Mill Road, Lewes. The developer is requesting a zoning change from AR-1 to MR, medium density residential, and a conditional use for multifamily housing on a 12.5-acre parcel and a zoning change from AR-1 to C-2 medium commercial district for a 3-acre parcel.

New Rehoboth recycling center hours
The hours of operation for Rehoboth’s recycling center have been reduced through the winter. The center is now open 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., Monday, Tuesday and Thursday. The recycling center, 37540 Oyster House Road, is only open to city residents and businesses. For more information, call city hall at 302-227-6181.

Lewes beach parking committee to meet Oct. 23
The Lewes Beach Parking Review Committee will meet at 9:30 a.m., Tuesday, Oct. 23, at city hall. The group will review obstructions in the right of way on residential streets between Savannah Road and Roosevelt Inlet. Members will also discuss a final report to mayor and city council.
