Cape school board meets May 23
The Cape Henlopen school board will meet at 6 p.m., Thursday, May 23, at H.O. Brittingham Elementary. The board will discuss the middle school gifted and talented program, major capital projects, immersion and world language, and will possibly vote on a precalculus selection committee recommendation.
Polls open for Cape district referendum
Polls are open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m., Tuesday, May 21, for the Cape Henlopen School District referendum. The district is requesting approval of a $0.086 debt service tax rate increase to buy a $15 million, 102-acre parcel along Cedar Grove Road on which to construct a $21 million district office and a $6 million bus parking and maintenance facility, and a $0.305 current expense tax rate increase that will generate almost $4.6 million annually for staffing, utilities, technology and instructional materials. Together, the impact on the average taxpayer would be $110 per year, or $9 per month, according to the district. Lewes council sets public workshop
Lewes Mayor and City Council will hold a public workshop at 10 a.m., Thursday, May 23, at city hall.

Lewes art panel meets May 22
The Lewes Public Art Committee will meet at 5:30 p.m., Wednesday, May 22, at the Rollins Center. The agenda includes an update and possible action on the DeWitt Godfrey sculpture, which is scheduled to be removed from Canalfront Park.
