Sussex council awards nonprofit grants

The Sussex County Council awarded the following grants during its May 21 meeting including councilmanic grants of $5,000 to Town of Millsboro for a Police E-bike; $2,000 to Slaughter Neck Community Action Organization for its senior program; and $3,000 to Millsboro Historical Society for Jacob Godwin School maintenance and repairs. A $1,000 countywide youth grant was awarded to First State Community Action Agency for its ninth annual It’s a Par-Tee miniature golf tournament.

Sussex council off on May 28

Sussex County Council will not meet Tuesday, May 28. The next regularly scheduled meeting is at 10 a.m., Tuesday, June 4, in the county administration building, 2 The Circle, Georgetown.

Lewes bike group to meet May 28

The Lewes Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Committee will meet at 5:30 p.m., Tuesday, May 28, at city hall.

The agenda includes continued discussion and possible action on the bike corral project.

Section of Gravel Hill Road closing

Gravel Hill Road between Doc Frame Road and Route 24 will close from Wednesday, May 29 through Friday, May 31, for installation of a crossroad pipe. 

Detour - Southbound Gravel Hill Road traffic should take Mount Joy Road to access Route 24. 

Traffic on Route 24 should use Mount Joy Road to access Gravel Hill Road.
