Rehoboth’s Wilmington/Baltimore task force meeting set May 26
Rehoboth Beach’s Wilmington/Baltimore Avenue Streetscape Task Force will meet virtually at 9 a.m., Wednesday, May 26. The agenda calls for presentation of a draft layout prepared by the city’s contractor and a discussion afterward.

The Henlopen Acres Planning Commission will meet at 10 a.m., Friday, May 28, in town hall, 104 Tidewaters.

Rehoboth issues RFP for recreation services at new dock
Rehoboth Beach has issued a request for proposals to provide non-motorized water recreation services at the new Grove Park Canal Dock. Proposals are due no later than 2 p.m., Thursday, June 3.
According to an RFP found on the city’s website, interested providers must be capable of furnishing public kayak and paddleboard concessions in a manner that ensures participants an enjoyable and safe experience.
The notice says the city intends to enter into an agreement with a single qualified firm.

Hearings on Sussex P&Z May 27 agenda
Sussex County Planning and Zoning Commission will meet at 5 p.m., Thursday, May 27, in the county administration building, 2 The Circle, Georgetown.
On the agenda are several public hearings including conditional-use applications filed by Delaware Electric Cooperative for construction of a substation at 34139 Cedar Grove Road near Lewes and by Covered Bridge Inn LLC (Hopkins Henlopen Homestead LLC) for a events venue on a 98.6-acre parcel on the south side of Fisher Road near Lewes.

Route 9 reopens in Georgetown
Route 9/East Market Street, between Sand Hill Road and Roger Avenue, Georgetown, has reopened. The segment of road, closed since May 1, is part of the Georgetown East Gateway improvements project. During the next phase of the projects, the Airport Road leg of the intersection will be closed starting Saturday, June 12, and remain closed all summer. It will reopen before Sussex Academy starts its 2021-22 school year. When Airport Road reopens at the end of summer, motorists will be using the new and improved signalized intersection.

Cape Henlopen school board meets May 27
The Cape Henlopen school board will meet at 6 p.m., Thursday, May 27, at H.O. Brittingham Elementary. Members will take possible action on the Beacon Middle School water tower logo, school year and summer updates and planning, and 12-month employee vacation day carryover.

Rehoboth 2021 election call for candidates
Rehoboth Beach’s 2021 annual municipal election will be held Saturday, Aug. 14, and the city has issued a notice of solicitation for candidates.
There are two seats up for grabs as Commissioners Richard Byrne and Pat Coluzzi reach the end of their current terms.
Interested candidates must turn in a petition signed by at least 10 qualified voters, but not more than 25, to the city manager by 4:30 p.m., Monday, June 7.

Absentee ballots will be available beginning Wednesday, June 30. Ballots will be sent to everyone who has an absentee ballot request form on file.
The deadline for the city to mail ballots is Tuesday, Aug. 10.
Ballots must be returned by mail or in person and received before the polls close on the day of the election.
To be eligible to vote, a person must register on or before Thursday, July 15. Any qualified elector may request an absentee ballot no later than noon, Friday, Aug. 13.
