Lewes public art meeting set Aug. 24
The Lewes Public Art Committee will meet at 6:30 p.m., Wednesday, Aug. 24, at the Rollins Center.
The agenda includes updates on removal of the 2022 art installations, the 2023 installation, and the feasibility of a city-sponsored bus trip to a nearby sculpture park.
Prior to an update on the Great Marsh Park draft concept plan, the committee will discuss submitting a letter to the GMP Master Plan Committee requesting a long-term plan to develop a permanent sculpture park.
Committee members will accept public input during a narrowly focused discussion on the pros and cons of a large-scale sculpture in Canalfront Park, including reasons for placement of “Cape Spirit” within the park.

Lewes BPW meeting set Aug. 24
The Lewes Board of Public Works will meet at 4 p.m., Wednesday, Aug. 24, at City Hall following an executive session. The agenda includes discussions on the 2021-22 FY audit report, and proposals to redevelop a well and purchase a temporary generator.
Members will continue discussions on pole attachments, accepting an unsecured line of credit through Fulton Bank, and the Sussex County Mutual Aid agreement.

Cape school board meets Aug. 25
The Cape Henlopen school board will meet at 6 p.m., Thursday, Aug. 25, at H.O. Brittingham Elementary School. Members will possibly take action on several board policies, the opportunity flex funding waiver, physical science curricular materials and the student code of conduct. Henlopen Acres election Aug. 27
The annual election for Henlopen Acres will be held Saturday, Aug. 27. There are three candidates for two seats – incumbent Commissioners Richard Thompson and Jeffrey Jacobs, and John Shedletsky. Polls will be open from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at town hall, 104 Tidewaters. The deadline for requesting an absentee ballot to be sent by mail is 4:30 p.m., Tuesday, Aug. 23. Absentee ballots must be received at town hall no later than noon, Saturday, Aug. 27. Anyone interested in obtaining an absentee ballot packet should contact town hall at 302-227-6411.

RD20 Dems to host forum Aug. 29
The Delaware 20th Representative District’s Democratic Committee will host a 6th Senate District primary candidates forum from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m., Monday, Aug. 29, via Zoom.
The moderator will be Committee Secretary Carol Kashow; the forum will start with questions prepared by the RD20 Executive Committee. Registered participants can submit questions via Zoom chat. RD20 candidate Stell Parker Selby, running for state House District 20 with no primary opponent, will provide a short campaign update following the Q&A with 6th District candidates.
Any registered Democrat in Delaware can participate in the candidate forum. Registration for non-committee people is required; email legal name and street address for verification purposes to rd20.deldems@gmail.com.
