Council denied Goodinson’s appeal Aug. 11.  Council will then hear another appeal, this one brought by Charles Schwinabart, Michael Guerreri and Wallace Goff regarding preliminary site-plan approval for the proposed Cypress Grove project, a 240-unit, mixed-use development to be located on a 26-acre parcel at Route 16 and Country Road.

Milton council to meet Sept. 13

Milton Town Council will meet at 6:30 p.m., Monday, Sept. 13, at Milton library to discuss the newest draft of the fiscal year 2022 town budget and an ordinance regarding appeals of decisions made by the Milton Planning and Zoning Commission.

A public hearing on the budget was held at council’s Aug. 16 meeting, where members had more questions and requests. Additions include an extra police officer, increased funding for speed safety signs and an increased donation for Grace Church, which allowed the town to hold meetings in its fellowship hall while Milton library was closed during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Council will also discuss an amendment to town code regulating appeals of decisions made by planning and zoning. The ordinance would lay out procedures for how appeals hearings will be heard by town council and would make the appellant responsible for many of the appeal costs. Following discussion, council will set a date for a public hearing on the ordinance.

In new business, council will discuss bond investments with officials from M&T Bank, and a request from David and Danielle Mummert for a waiver from the requirement to install a sidewalk at their home at 316 Behringer Ave.

KC America Inc., owner of 9 Park St., is requesting a minor lot-line adjustment, while CNR Properties, owner of 301 Broadkill Road, is requesting land development approval to build a 5,500-square-foot warehouse on the parcel.

Council will discuss a recommendation from the streets, sidewalks and parks committee for the town to seek funds for planning costs regarding a proposed upgrade of the town’s marina and boat slips. Finally, council will approve a slate for the board of elections and election officers, and adoption of a new public works construction manual.
