The CAMP Rehoboth Labor Day weekend extravaganza now known as SunFestival started in the 1980s as a dance, and for many people that is still the highlight.
This year’s Night of Dance will offer two DJs for one ticket Sunday, Aug. 31, at Rehoboth Beach Convention Center, which will be transformed by major lighting, video and visual effects.
Doors will open at 7 p.m., and DJ Robbie Leslie will kick things off with a disco tea dance. With Leslie, audiences don’t get preprogrammed, algorithm-driven music. He considers the dance floor a living organism. “It’s a chemical reaction, a very dynamic fusion of the music and the crowd,” Leslie said.
For the second half of the night, another returning favorite, Joe Gauthreaux, will take over. Gauthreaux is known for putting his heart and soul into every performance, spinning vocal house music infused with tribal rhythms and melodic trance beats.
Leslie said he and Gauthreaux love working together. “We have a great chemistry in the booth,” Leslie said. “I begin the party and peak the room just before he takes the helm and shifts the energy into an even higher gear. I can't wait to see the Rehoboth Beach crowd once again.”
Proceeds from SunFestival benefit CAMP Rehoboth, a community center committed to creating and maintaining an inclusive environment in Southern Delaware.
