Noted jazz keyboardist to perform July 28 at Cedar Grove venue

Marcus Johnson is a recognized jazz keyboardist, but the award-winning musician is also known for his many entrepreneurial activities, including FLO (For the Love Of) wine.

Both his musical talent and his wine will be on display from 6:30 to 9 p.m., Thursday, July 28, when Johnson performs at The Room at Cedar Grove near Lewes. Sponsored by the Rehoboth Beach Jazz Festival, the intimate concert will include a four-course, wine-pairing dinner featuring FLO.

Funds from the event will benefit Paul Kares, a nonprofit supporting aspiring musicians and culinary professionals.

“Marcus is so amazing on so many levels,” said Paul Cullen, founder of The Room at Cedar Grove and co-founder of Paul Kares. “His musical talent is undeniable, but he succeeds at whatever he decides to do.”

Johnson has an undergraduate degree in music and business from Howard University, and law and MBA degrees from Georgetown University.

He is CEO/founder of FLO Brands and FLO Wines, and the CEO/president of Marimelj Entertainment Group, Three Keys Music and Three Keys Publishing. In 2010, he was nominated for the prestigious NACCP Image Award.

Johnson has released more than 15 Billboard-charted CDs. His groundbreaking 2008 Billboard Top 20 Contemporary Jazz FLO (For the Love Of) anthology consisted of three CDs that simultaneously charted on the Top 10 Billboard Contemporary Jazz charts.

“As someone who juggles multiple businesses, I have total admiration for Marcus’s accomplishments,” said Cullen, a musician, chef and sommelier with a wine label of his own. “He is a consummate jazz keyboardist – and his wines are amazing!”
