Occupational Therapy of Delaware opens in Milford
Tracy Dissinger, OTR/L, has announced the opening of Occupational Therapy of Delaware, a new private practice in Milford, providing outpatient rehabilitation and personal treatment plans focusing on the hand and upper extremities, Parkinson’s disease, MS and stroke. The new office is at 550 S. DuPont Highway, Suite E, in Milford.
Dissinger has spent her career working in outpatient rehabilitation and has managed several sub-acute rehabilitation departments. Her expertise in hand therapy includes custom splint fabrication, rehabilitation in the treatment of soft tissue, and orthopedic and neurological injuries affecting the upper extremities.
She is a certified LSVT-BIG therapist, a specialized treatment approach for patients with Parkinson’s and other neurological impairments. LSVT-BIG treatment focuses on fall reduction, improving balance and spatial awareness for improved independence with daily tasks.
Dissinger and her husband Mark, residents of Milford for many years and active in the community, opened Occupational Therapy of Delaware to provide much-needed treatment and services to the community. She is committed to providing exceptional patient care in a compassionate, comfortable environment that focuses on the individual’s healing and safety.
“Hands are complex and amazing tools made up of 27 distinct bones which provide you with the flexibility and range of motion necessary to carry out everyday tasks or partake in your favorite hobby or sport,” she says. “When your hands are not functioning properly, the mindless tasks we do all day long can be painful and sometimes nearly impossible. It is important to find a therapist with the expertise and knowledge necessary to help you regain your strength, independence and a pain-free way of life.”
A graduate of Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia, Dissinger is certified as an LSVT-BIG therapist, driver rehab specialist and geriatric specialist. She is a member of the National Board Certification of Occupational Therapists and American Occupational Therapy Association.
