Olympic runner Erin Donahue Livicchi wins Dewey Revelation 4 miler
Erin Donahue Livicchi, 35, broke the banner pushing a stroller as the first woman and fourth overall at the Dewey Revelation 4-Miler May 5. Donahue Livicchi’s time was 25:39. Easy-gliding, always-smiling Holly Smith was the second woman in 25:37.
Later came Brandon Smith, 37, in 28:02, then Anthony Livicchi, 37, in 34:31. Livicchi was wearing a Lehigh wrestling shirt, while Brandon played soccer at Lehigh. Both men are the same age, and their wives are the same age at 35. They are friends, but who the heck is Erin Donahue Livicchi who stopped during the race to hand her 9-month-old daughter Juliet a bottle?
She ran the 1,500 meters at the 2008 Beijing Olympics and is a former UNC cross country and track star. She was also a basketball player while in high school in New Jersey.
Smith said after the race: “If I had to come in second, I was proud to be beaten by an Olympian, but more importantly a great person and friend.”
Sam Hete, 22, was a revelation to a following field of 272 runners, as he smoked the course in 21:46, which is a 5:27 pace. Martin Rodriguez was second in 24:11, with Pete Rosembert in third in 25:05.
The next Races2Run local event is the third annual Michelob Ultra SPF at the Beach 5K Sunday, May 12, at Rehoboth Ale House on Wilmington Avenue. The race benefits Moving for Melanoma Delaware.
