Overfalls to host Art in Bloom program March 18
The Overfalls Foundation will host Art in Bloom representatives for a presentation at 7 p.m., Friday, March 18, at the Lewes Public Library.
Free and open to the public, the presentation is a team effort by Ed Zygmonski, Sue Sandmeyer and Tony Boyd-Heron.
Ed Zygmonski is a longtime resident of Lewes, a former Lewes City Council member, a current Lewes in Bloom board member and co-chair of the LIB Art in Bloom Committee.
Sue Sandmeyer, Art in Bloom Committee co-chair, has been active with Lewes in Bloom for many years, playing an integral role in organizing the City of Lewes' entry into national America in Bloom competitions and the international Communities in Bloom competition, all of which resulted in first-place awards and recognition for the City of Lewes and for Lewes in Bloom.
Tony Boyd-Heron is also a member of the Art in Bloom Committee, as well as a standing member of the Lewes Public Art Committee, which was established by the city to review and vet temporary art projects to be placed on city property. He and his wife Carol Boyd-Heron own and operate the Peninsula Gallery on Savannah Road. He brings a broad knowledge of art and local artists to Art in Bloom.
Together, the three have spearheaded efforts by Art in Bloom successfully to place several permanent art installations in the City of Lewes in the past few years. As will be seen, "Cape Spirit" is Art in Bloom's latest and most ambitious art project to date.
