Overturf to interview Joan Lunden July 22 during book promotion

July 15, 2020

Journalist Madeleine Overturf from NBC affiliate WRDE will interview Joan Lunden Wednesday, July 22, during a virtual event to promote Lunden’s latest book, “Why Did I Come into This Room? A Candid Conversation about Aging.” The event is hosted by Browseabout Books, Lewes Public Library and Delaware Breast Cancer Coalition.

"We knew immediately that Maddie was the perfect person to interview Joan Lunden. Ms. Lunden was a pioneering female broadcast journalist, and Maddie is following in her footsteps at NBC affiliate WRDE,” said Susan Kehoe, managing partner at Browseabout Books.

Overturf has worked for Draper Media since 2014, previously serving as WBOC’s Sussex County bureau chief and weekend anchor. “Joan Lunden is a beloved part of American journalism and a true role model of mine. It’s an honor to speak with her and experience her charm, intelligence, and wisdom firsthand,” said Overturf.

With restrictions on in-person events resulting from the pandemic, Browseabout Books and Lewes Public Library have partnered to host a series of virtual author events that feature both fiction and nonfiction books. “Knowing that this event can bring some joy and fulfillment to readers on Delmarva and also benefit a great cause – the Delaware Breast Cancer Coalition – makes what’s bound to be an enjoyable and engaging evening even more meaningful,” said Kehoe.

The virtual event will begin at 5 p.m. Registration is free but required; go to www.lewes.lib.de.us. Those who register will receive an email with a link to the event.
