Owners and friends hold vigil for Tank

Dog remembered as gentle soul
June 22, 2021

“If there are no dogs in heaven, then when I die I want to go where they went.” - Will Rogers.

A group of dog lovers showed their support June 19 in Georgetown for an Oak Orchard dog that died Memorial Day after being shot.

Jim Sekcienski, who owned the nearly 2-year-old Chocolate Lab named Tank with his wife Karen, led a vigil on The Circle where about 20 friends and strangers came to remember the gentle canine.

Horns honked in support for the vigil as Sekcienski and many neighbors and friends joined in the remembrance of Tank. Even strangers stopped and joined the observance to honor the dog.

“Tank was a gentle pup,” said Debra Wolstein, who says she is an advocate for Tank.

“I want to bring public attention to the story,” she said. “He was being trained to be a therapy dog for Jim. He was loved by everyone who met him.”
