Painted Stave to host scrapple vodka tasting May 3 at Starboard

April 29, 2015

When it comes to the best Bloody Mary this side of the Mississippi, The Starboard Restaurant in Dewey Beach reigns supreme; the name has become synonymous with the spicy beverage, and the bloody bar is unmatched in selection.

Owner Steve “Monty” Montgomery is always on the prowl for the latest, greatest innovation to make his bloodies even better, and that’s why he’s so keen to host a tasting for what is sure to be a blast in a glass: Painted Stave’s Off The Hoof Scrapple Flavored Vodka. The tasting will be during brunch Sunday, May 3. The first 80 people through the door will receive a special treat from Painted Stave.

Sussex County loves its scrapple, and now vodka enthusiasts can enjoy the fusion of a down-home comfort food with an alcoholic classic. The vodka is made with real scrapple as well as a special blend of scrapple herbs. It is carefully distilled in small batches for an authentic scrapple-infused taste. It's made on location in Smyrna, and The Painted Stave boasts, "It’s everything but the squeal.”

Flavored vodkas have been rising in popularity in the last several years, so it makes sense that Delaware should have its own area-centric vodka. Nothing says that better than scrapple.
