Painting sale proceeds to benefit Milton music and wind fest
The fourth annual New Music & Wind Fest is planned for Saturday, May 31.
As he’s done previously, Milton-based artist Bill Warrell announced sale proceeds from one of his original paintings will help support the performing artists’ fees for this year’s event.
As a study for a proposed mural, Warrell recently created "Delaware Celebrates the Sun.” It is on display through Tuesday, April 7, in the Milton Arts Guild Curves exhibit at 107 Federal St., Milton. The subject recalls the 2024 fest, which celebrated the 100th birthday of Meastro Marshall Allen with a free performance of the internationally famous Sun Ra Arkestra.
Organized by the Federal Street Arts Project and the Milton Arts Guild, in partnership with the town of Milton, the 2026 fest will feature the music of jazz composer/saxophonist Julius Hemphill (1938-1995) performed by the Marty Erhlich Trio and Hemphill Stringtet, and new works by Janel Leppin's Ensemble Volcanic Ash.
