Pathways to Success honors students

Pathways to Success honored seven students Sept. 26 at Irish Eyes in Lewes for their perseverance and dedication as part of Pathways’ Student Limelight Celebration.
Pathways to Success is a Georgetown-based program that helps students get through school and prepares them for life after school.
Executive Director Fay Blake said, “It is about grabbing good talent. It is about helping our children be the very best they can be. We’re at an inflection point where we need to show up. We will not be afraid. We will not be afraid to make sure that our kids have the very best education they can have.”
Blake said the goal of a program like Pathways is to lead, guide and move things out of the way to give students the best opportunity to grow and thrive.
“That is what our kids, our children, our future deserves,” she said.
The students honored included Ryan Grace and Chris Miller of Cape Henlopen High School, Cape graduate and Delaware State University freshman Ayreonna Hudson, Ja’Laysia Reynolds of Polytech High School, DaniJah Stroud of Seaford High School, and Shyleah Cannon and Mar’yona Smith of Sussex Tech.
Each student was presented with an award by their Pathways coordinator.
Board Chair Bill Collick said, “We tell kids all the time, ‘You have to get a seat at the table or find somebody who is at the table that can advocate for you.’ I say to you, Pathways students that are here tonight, never forget that the possibilities for you are limitless if you work to get at the table.”
