Paul Richard Clark Sr., Dover Air Force Base retiree

October 19, 2021

Paul Richard Clark Sr., 85, of Camden passed away unexpectedly Sunday, Oct. 17, 2021, at Kent General Hospital in Dover.

Born in Homer, N.Y., in 1936, Paul left to join the Air Force in 1958, serving 25 years active duty before retiring at Dover AFB with a rank of CMSgt. He was fortunate enough to have the privilege of continuing his civil service at Dover Air Force Base, where he worked for 31 years as a purchasing agent for the Civil Engineer Squadron. He truly enjoyed those he worked with within the squadron. Paul was a hard worker who passed his tireless work ethic on to his children. He was beloved by all who knew him.

He finally retired from CES in March 2019 at the age of 82. For Paul, the most essential part of his life was his family. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather who enjoyed spending time with his family. He loved meeting the family on Friday nights at whatever restaurant was decided on and hearing from everyone about how their week went. He will be sorely missed by those who knew and loved him.

Paul was preceded in death by his wife Betty Jean; his parents, George and Ruth; his siblings, George Jr., Barbara, Helen and Jim; and grandson, Gary Lee. He leaves behind his five children, Paul Clark Jr. and his wife Dawn of Camden, Lynn Utz and her husband Dennis of Felton, Karen Lewis of Camden, Lisa Miller and her husband Daniel of Apopka, Fla., and Tammy Bader and her husband John of Camden. He is also survived by his 14 grandchildren, Andy, Laura and her husband Jerry, Brandi and her husband Nick, Jason and his wife Danielle, Bryan and his wife Melissa, Nicholas and his wife Afton, Eric and his fiancé Ivy, Caitlin and her husband Will (Billy), Shawn and Gabrielle, Amanda, Kayla, Cody and his wife Jordyn, Deven and Dalton; and 17 great-grandchildren and one due in March 2022.

Viewing will be held from 5 to 7 p.m., Friday, Oct. 22, at the Funeral Home of Michael J. Ambruso, 1175 S. State St., Dover, with a celebration of life service at 7 p.m. Entombment will take place Monday, Nov. 1, at 2 p.m., at the Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Millsboro, with full military honors.

Donations in his memory could be made to the four charities he always supported, American Cancer Society, American Heart association, ASPCA, and St. Jude.
