The Peninsula Gallery has announced Meg Nottingham Walsh as its featured artist for July.
Known for landscapes drenched in light and color, Walsh has garnered numerous awards at juried exhibitions and national plein air competitions. Though realistic in nature, her paintings have strong abstract elements characterized by simplified shapes, limited values and glowing color.
She is a member of the Washington Society of Landscape Painters, the Mid-Atlantic Plein Air Painters Association and the Salmagundi Club in New York. Her paintings are featured in the book “100 Plein Air Painters of the Mid-Atlantic.”
Walsh has included both landscapes and bird portraits in this special collection. The works are dominated by beach and bay waterscapes, with seagulls wandering the shoreline comprising the bird images. Walsh has also included some studies – fully realized smaller first versions of soon-to-be larger works – in the batch, allowing viewers to see the artist’s process.
Nine oil paintings from Walsh are on display throughout the month of July. Works can be previewed at peninsula-gallery.com and are available for purchase.
Featured Artist of the Month is a recurring event produced by Peninsula Gallery to highlight works created by different artists. The lineup of participants includes some of the gallery’s resident artists, repeat exhibitors and artists entirely new to the space.

The gallery is located in the Shops at the Beacon, 520 East Savannah Road, Lewes.
