The second phase of a major facelift for the Henlopen Condominium in Rehoboth Beach has begun. Scaffolding on the Boardwalk- and courtyard-facing walls of the condominium started going up a couple of weeks ago.

Work being done includes replacing all the exterior railings, scraping and painting the entire exterior, repairing exterior decks as needed, updating lighting, and installing a new roof. Last year, work included the exterior walls along the north-, west- and south-facing sides. The scaffolding is expected to be up through the winter before coming down in spring 2022.

The 8-story, 146-condo building was built in the early 1970s and is one of the largest structures in Rehoboth. The last major renovation was roughly 15 years ago, and the work has nothing to do with the Henlopen Hotel.
