Philip L. Sheridan, longtime DC resident

Philip L. Sheridan, 81, a longtime resident of Washington, D.C., passed away Tuesday, March 10, 2026, in Westerville, Ohio, after a long illness. 

Born and raised in Columbus, Ohio, Phil was graduated from St. Charles Preparatory School, Ohio University and Harvard Business School. He lived in Los Angeles, Calif., and Chicago, Ill., before settling in Washington, D.C., where he founded Dupont Properties and revitalized the buildings at the corner of 18th and S streets, N.W. into a thriving area of restaurants, storefronts, office space and apartments. He had homes in Rehoboth Beach and Annapolis, Md., and loved to waterski, windsurf, sail, ski and take motorcycle trips.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert Sr. and Mary Sheridan. Phil is survived by his longtime partner in life, Elizabeth Hallman; brothers, Al Jr. (Karen) Sheridan and Steve (Barb) Sheridan; nieces and nephews, Kevin Sheridan, Laura Gordon, Maggie (Travis) Buckley, Mike (Kate) Sheridan and Molly (Joe) Brunner; and 14 grand-nieces and -grandnephews.

A celebration of life will be scheduled at a later date in Washington, D.C.
