Pitching pumpkins for a good cause

November 15, 2025

Men and women gathered at Big Chill Surf Cantina in Rehoboth Beach Nov. 8, to take part in the near-decade-long tradition of Sling N’ Squash, a contest to determine who can launch pumpkins the farthest.

The contest is divided up into four age groups, men and women over 40 and men and women under 40. Proceeds from the event benefitted Home of the Brave.

Competitors picked out their own pumpkins and tried to throw them as far as they could. The men and women who threw the farthest received a $500 cash prize.
