A Georgetown man faces charges after police say he stole a sleeping man’s wallet Sept. 9, and then used a credit card to shop at a convenience store.

Police said Louis Bland Jr., 55, went to a home in the 20000 block of Wilson Road at 3:40 p.m. and stole the wallet of a man, 67, who was sleeping. Police later learned the man’s credit card was used at an area convenience store, and they identified Bland as a suspect and issued a warrant for his arrest.

On Sept. 18, Millsboro Police Department arrested Bland for an unrelated incident, and Delaware State Police charged him with first-degree burglary, two counts theft under $1,500 where the victim is 62 years or older, and unlawful use of payment card under $1,500 unauthorized use of card where the victim is 62 years or older. He was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 2, and committed to Sussex Correctional Institution in default of $26,000 cash bond.
