Police: Milford man shoots cars, threatens others

December 30, 2022

A Milford man faces charges after police say he shot three cars and threatened relatives Dec. 28 before threatening police who took him to an area hospital.

Delaware State Police responded at 6:38 p.m. to a home in the area of Knollac Drive and Surrey Court following a report of a man shooting a gun, said Sr. Cpl. Leonard DeMalto of the Delaware State Police.

Police learned that E. Keith Hudson, 65, had left his home carrying a firearm bag, and called a relative to say he was going to shoot somebody, DeMalto said. When Hudson was approached by two family members, DeMalto said, Hudson pointed a gun at their vehicle and threatened to shoot them. He then shot at three different cars driven by a 50-year-old woman, a 30-year-old woman, and a 51-year-old woman, respectively, DeMalto said. No one was struck by gunfire and no one was injured, police said.

Troopers and officers from the Milford Police Department arrived and took Hudson into custody without incident. The firearm was recovered, and Hudson was found to be intoxicated, DeMalto said. Hudson was taken to an area hospital for treatment, and while there, DeMalto said, Hudson threatened to shoot and kill three troopers. After Hudson was medically cleared, he was transported to Troop 7 and charged with possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, three counts felony aggravated menacing, three counts first-degree reckless endangering, three counts terroristic threatening, possession of a firearm while under the influence, and criminal mischief.

Hudson was arraigned at Justice of the Peace Court 3 and committed to Sussex Correctional Institution in default of $94,100 cash bond.

The Delaware State Police Troop 4 Criminal Investigations Unit continues investigating this case. Troopers ask anyone with information regarding this incident to contact Detective K. Haley at 302-752-3810. Information may also be provided by contacting Delaware Crime Stoppers at 1-800-TIP-3333 or delawarecrimestoppers.com.
