Poor planning creates stressful situation

August 29, 2025

How many brilliant members of the Sussex County Planning & Zoning Commission and Sussex County Council did it take to decide they should approve the construction of a car wash at the corner of Route 24 and Warrington Road, where two lanes of traffic coming from Plantation Road must merge immediately into a single lane as they approach a roundabout to continue onto Warrington Road or Healthy Way?

I envision total chaos as cars leaving the car wash attempt to enter that merging mess to continue their own trip. Let's not even imagine that scenario during the summer months, as the locals are already contending with the vacationers who are continually using this route to avoid all the lights on Route 1.

While we're at it, why not add DelDOT to the list of responsible parties, as they have done nothing to alleviate the problem by not adding the proposed right-lane extension approaching Old Landing Road during those same heavy traffic time for the drivers trying just to get home to all the multiple developments now existing below the infamous four-way stop intersection of Warrington Road and Old Landing Road.

I really believe it's time for a moratorium on all new construction until the infrastructure meets the demands of the greedy developers.
