Possum Juniors comedy-mystery ‘WCKY’ to open July 25
Possum Juniors, the youth affiliate of Possum Point Players, will present “WCKY,” a comedy-mystery, from Friday to Sunday, July 25 to 27, at Possum Hall, 441 Old Laurel Road, Georgetown.
Friday and Saturday shows begin at 7:30 p.m.; the Sunday matinee starts at 2 p.m.
The cast consists of more than 20 young actors from numerous communities in Southern Delaware.
Written by Flip Kobler and Cindy Marcus, “WCKY” sees murder and mayhem collide in hilarious fashion as a new radio station, WCKY, is preparing to air its first show in 1939. As the Clementine Sisters are about to sing the opening jingle, the action behind the scenes is infused with excitement and drama. Head writer Roy plans to propose on air to Polly, the assistant director. Meanwhile, actress Sarah has helped Roy procure a ring. And as Roy is down on one knee practicing his proposal with Sarah, in walks Polly. Whoops!
Sarah ends up dead a few minutes later as she’s about to make her own shocking and unscripted announcement on the air. Obviously, all signs point to poor Roy. But by the time the night is over, two other on-air talents have also been murdered, and each time, Roy is the prime suspect. It’s up to the creative writer to solve the mystery himself and reveal the actual killer through a live radio broadcast.
Harrington resident Jonathan Morehouse directs “WCKY” and Possums trustee Lorraine Leavel of Milford is the troupe’s advisor. Included in the cast are Georgetown residents Kennedy Megee, Emerson Wright, Lorraine Westphal and Noah Kunde; Seaford residents Rylie Curl, Sophia Lovelace and Michael Woolman; and Abby Brabitz of Greenwood.
Also appearing are Zoe Pla and Gabe Young of Dagsboro; Evelyn Williams, Violet Everngam and Summer Everngam of Fenwick Island; Natalie Howard and Greta Craney of Lewes; Laila Courtney and Lucas Mahaffey of Ocean View; Olivia Holdzkom and Ella Chafin of Milton; and Cora Issacs from Ellendale. Rounding out the cast list are Ellie Hall from Frankford and Billy Yannuzzi from Millsboro.
