Possums set holiday show auditions Sept. 14-15 in Georgetown

August 30, 2025

Possum Point Players director Marge Ventura and assistant director Janice Hall will hold open auditions for its holiday show from 12 to 3 p.m., Sunday, Sept. 14, and 6 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 16, at Possum Hall, 441 Old Laurel Road, Georgetown.

If needed, callbacks will be at 7 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 17.

Show dates for “The Best Christmas Pageant Ever,” by Barbara Robinson, will be Friday to Sunday, Dec. 5 to 7, and Dec. 12 to 14.

The hilarious holiday classic features a touching conclusion that illustrates the true meaning of Christmas. In the story, church members struggle to put on a Christmas pageant while including all of the Herdman kids in the cast, even though they are credited with being among the most inventively awful kids in history. Cast members get to engage in and witness good-humored mayhem when the Herdmans collide head-on with the story of Christmas.

The cast comprises child actors ages through age 15, and adults ages 25 and up.

Auditions will consist of readings from the script. Children ages 6 to 10 may come prepared to recite a familiar short story or monologue.

The cast must be available for all shows and technical rehearsals.
