Quakertown Wellness Center celebrates ribbon cutting in Lewes

July 9, 2016

The Rehoboth Beach-Dewey Beach Chamber of Commerce celebrated the expansion and reorganization of Quakertown Wellness Center with a ribbon cutting June 27.

Quakertown Wellness was founded in 2007 by Sally Laux, BSN, LAc, and has grown to include several talented and experienced healers. In May 2016, the group transitioned into a cooperative business model led by Karyn Jennings, LMT, NCTMB; Lauren Mund, LAc; and Dr. Kim Furtado, ND.  The team has welcomed new practitioner Catrina Stiller, LPCMH, and has designated a new space for group work. The group clinical space will host a wide array of classes and clinical services, and is also available for use by the community upon request.

Clinical services in the new space will include group acupuncture sessions with Mund. Serving patients with group/semi-private sessions is an effective way to increase access to care while reducing cost to clients for frequent recommended treatment sessions. Group counseling sessions led by Stiller will also be available now at the center. The first of these groups is titled Eating With Intention and will foster the ability to improve eating behaviors, encourage weight control and develop healthy relationships with food.

In addition to clinical services in the group room, there will be an ongoing calendar of classes and informational sessions. The Rev. Sue Greer, OM, will hold a six-week series of classes on various forms of meditation including chanting. Kim Blanch, LM, RN, will also offer classes on Ayurvedic medicine in the fall.

Quakertown Wellness Center includes seven practitioner team members.

Catrina Stiller, the newest team member, is an intuitive counselor and healer who practices as a licensed practical counselor of mental health in Delaware. Highmark insurance is accepted. Stiller is also a national certified counselor and is a member of the American Counseling Association and Therapy Dogs International.

Kim Blanch is a registered nurse, licensed massage therapist, holistic health coach and yoga teacher who draws upon years of professional experience and continuing education to assist her clients in their pursuit of greater wellness.

Kim Furtado is a naturopathic doctor whose focus is on preventative and whole patient care. She specializes in women’s health, chronic illness, hormone balancing and detoxification. Naturopathic medicine seeks to find the cause of a patient's imbalance, to stimulate the body's innate ability to heal and to utilize methods and treatments with the least risk of harm.

Sue Greer, healer and spiritual consultant, has been practicing and teaching energy medicine for more than 35 years. Her unique history and extensive training give her a master level in the skill of clearing and restoring one’s subtle energy body.

Karyn Jennings has been a massage therapist since 1997, and she combines both Eastern and Western techniques to help to heal and calm the body, mind, and spirit. Her techniques include Swedish massage, deep tissue, myofascial release, acupressure, reflexology, and a variety of energy work, including chakra balancing and aromatherapy.

Sally Laux, BSN, LAc,  is an acupuncturist who has studied, practiced and integrated Western and Eastern medical philosophies since 1979. Her primary areas of interest are in treating chronic conditions by harmonizing an individual's spiritual essence in relation to their health and well-being, supporting them to live fully in the presence of their life circumstances.

Acupuncturist and Chinese herbalist Lauren Mund includes several modalities such as acupressure, trigger point therapy, and acupuncture with tuning forks or electrostimulation, and works as a general practitioner with emphasis on musculoskeletal issues, pain management and women’s health.

Bonnie Schuyler, LMT, reiki master, offers Swedish massage, the Bellanina facelift massage, reflexology, raindrop therapy (using essential oils down the spine) and reiki (energy work).  She trusts that if a client is given the opportunity to relax and recharge mentally, physically and spiritually, it is a wise investment in one’s health and well-being.
