The Rally for Our First Responders check presentation was held Aug. 13, at Lewes Fire Department Station 2 in Nassau to distribute $149,585 to local fire departments, emergency medical services providers and police departments. The money, which was raised during their fourth annual event held May 31, at Hudson Fields, went to 15 recipients that help keep local communities safe every day.
Recipients are the Rehoboth Beach Volunteer Fire Company, Lewes Fire Department, Georgetown Fire Company, Milton Fire Department, Indian River Volunteer Fire Company, Camp Barnes, Delaware Police Chiefs’ Foundation, Fit for Duty, Beebe Medical Foundation, Delaware Crime Stoppers, Georgetown EMS, Delaware State Police Honor Guard, Delaware State Police Community Engagement, Delaware State Police Troopers Benevolent Fund and Southern Delaware Unity Team.
“This is the best time of the year for me,” said Kyle Shaffer, founder and president of the Shaffer Family Foundation. “To give back to these nonprofit organizations who give to us throughout the year, and those who keep our communities safe, it just means the world to me.”
