Raymond William Timmons Sr., retired truck driver

Raymond William Timmons Sr., 91, of Milford, passed away Friday, Nov. 4, 2016. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Rhoda; brother Francis; and sister Dorothy.

Raymond was a member of the Merchant Marines and a truck driver for Burris Foods for the majority of his working life. After retiring from truck driving, Raymond pursued a sales career with Diesel Equipment Sales in Bridgeville.

Raymond was best known by family and friends for his many years racing hydroplanes throughout the East Coast, for his regular visits to Harrington Raceway and Casino and the screen house on the Indian River up to the time of his recent illness.

He is survived by his sister, Pauline Sullivan; sons Raymond Jr. and Charles; grandchildren, Rikki Timmons, Natalie Baker, Railynn Timmons, Alex Timmons and Christopher Timmons. He was also fortunate to have enjoyed the company of nine great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
