Read Across America Day observed at Lewes School

To celebrate National Read Across America Day, a few guest readers visited Sussex Consortium students at the Lewes School.
Students and staff also recognized Dr. Seuss’s birthday with a surprise guest visit from The Cat in the Hat, and Thing 1 and Thing 2.
Much like World Read Aloud day, students had the opportunity to have books read aloud to them by a variety of guests including Sen. Ernie Lopez, R-Lewes, and Cape Henlopen School District Board of Education members Jessica Tyndall, Julie Derrick and Janis Hanwell.
Read Across America is an annual reading motivation and awareness program presented by the National Education Association. It calls for every child to celebrate reading on Dr. Seuss’s birthday.
