Read Aloud family fun set at Crooked Hammock May 24
Along with great food and tasty beverages, family fun also will be on the menu at Crooked Hammock in Lewes from 4 to 9 p.m., Wednesday, May 24, when the brewery hosts a Read Aloud Delaware family fun event.
The evening will feature appearances by Pete the Cat, a much-loved character in children’s literature, and Mother Goose, a perennial favorite. Pete the Cat will arrive at 4:15 p.m. and will return again at 6:15 p.m. Mother Goose will be visiting at 5:15 and 7:15 pm.
Children will be able to play Book Character Bingo throughout the evening, and winners will have a variety of books from which to choose a prize. Books also will be awarded to winners of Book Walks being held at 5:30 and 7:30 p.m.
Read Aloud Delaware volunteers will be reading children’s stories in the brewery’s backyard area at 4 and 6 p.m.
A percentage of proceeds from food and beverage sales during the evening will benefit Read Aloud Delaware programs including LENA Start for children from birth to 3 years old and the volunteer reading program for preschool- and kindergarten-aged students.
Founded in 1983, Read Aloud Delaware’s mission is to create a lifelong impact through early childhood literacy. The vision is for every child in Delaware to have the fundamental literacy skills to succeed in school and life.
