Rehoboth’s Silver Lake Bridge on a 1929 Postcard

May 29, 2018

This postcard showing the Silver Lake Bridge in Rehoboth Beach was mailed in 1929, so the bridge at least predates that year. Postcards of the bridge usually show it from its southwest side looking toward the northeast.  As small as Delaware is, there are nonetheless at least four Silver Lakes, including ones in Rehoboth Beach, Dover, Middletown and Milford. Rehoboth’s Silver Lake is highly unusual in that it is a natural, spring-fed freshwater lake within just a couple hundred yards of the Atlantic Ocean.
