Rehoboth Beach’s longest-running businesses recognized

Main Street celebrates operations that have been downtown for 25, 50, 75 years or longer

Rehoboth Beach Main Street honored many of the city’s longest-running businesses Sept. 7, with a celebration at the Rehoboth Beach Bandstand.

Every one of these businesses is great in its own right, but collectively they make Rehoboth Beach an experience that keeps people coming back, said Commissioner Edward Chrzanowski, who serves as the commissioner liaison with the organization and used to serve on the board.

RBMS identified 93 companies that have been in business for at least 25 years, including four that have been in business more than 75 years.

RBMS volunteer Cindy Lovett said she was spurred into action because, from time to time, she hears that Rehoboth isn’t a good place for business and a lot of businesses are leaving. All these businesses survived COVID, which is a testament to their hard work, she said.

Mayor Stan Mills congratulated the long-standing businesses for adapting to the challenges presented to them over the years.

Following the brief ceremony, all qualifying businesses received a sticker to be displayed indicating their applicable milestone.
